Wallace China

Wallace China was founded in 1931 by Wallace B. Wood, his son Frank. and other former associates of Poxon China Company. Wallace moved into a large factory in Huntington Park and George Poxon was hired by the company which used a number of his designs. They specialized in hotel and restaurant china.
Early Wallace China patterns tended toward time-tested designs such as Willow and Staffordshire and the company grew to be one of the largest suppliers of hotel china in the west. During World War II the company made china for the army and naval stations in the west. Most of these items were plain, but some produced for the officers' mess included insignias.
In 1943 Wallace China produced its first Western Ho western themed lines...Rodeo, Boots & Saddle, Pioneer Trails, and Longhorn, all designed by western artist Till Goodan. This ranch ware remains very popular with collectors. Wallace China was acquired by Shenango China in 1959 and the company was liquidated in 1964.
